IPSJ considers inclusive education as the core to addressing the diversity of the learners, believing that children with special educational needs (at risk, determined or gifted/ talented) are the responsibility of the members who belong to this community.
We value high quality teaching for all learners and we aim to create a least restrictive learning environment which is flexible enough to meet the needs of all members of our school community.
At IPSJ we follow the principles of Inclusion as highlighted in Dubai Inclusive Education Policy and Framework and the UAE’s legislations.
Our Inclusion Department is divided into three units: Special Educational Needs Unit, Gifted and Talented Unit, and Counseling Unit. Support is provided in different ways such as: one to one support classes, small group support classes, direct and indirect mainstream support.
Not all children will need extra support with their learning but the progress of all children at IPSJ is monitored closely to ensure support is provided where necessary. Support can be given for a variety of reasons; emotional, social, behavioral and mild to severe educational needs.
We also work closely with outside agencies who will only come in to see the child after obtaining permission from the parents.
IPSJ recognizes that parents know their child best and they may feel that they need some additional help or support for some or all of their time at school. Our inclusion team is always ready to inform parents about the support we offer at school and hopefully it will help them to understand who can help and how this support can be accessed. We believe that working closely with parents is imperative. We have an open door policy and parents are very welcome to make an appointment to discuss their concerns.
